4. Read the data as follows:
Flash Data Erase
Pages, sections or the entire flash device (special erase) can be erased. If the flash is locked (FLAEN in the Flash Status
register is set), a special erase must be performed.
To select and perform a flash erase, perform the following sequence:
1. Enable flash access (if not already enabled).
2. Set the desired erase mode as follows:
3. Set the address as follows:
4. Erase the page or section as follows:
5. Erase the entire flash device (special erase) as follows:
Flash Data Write
Writing data to the flash should be done after properly erasing the page (see “Flash Page Organization and Erase Options”
on page 221 for flash write after erase limitations).
1. Enable flash access (if not already enabled).
2. Set the flash to Program mode as follows:
3. Set the address as follows:
4. Write the block as follows:
5. Repeat the write operation (step 4) for writing data to successive addresses.
6. Check that the write is completed by reading the Flash Status bit until it indicates that the flash is not busy; to do this:
To write data, perform the following sequence:
a. Set IR to Flash Data Read Scan instruction.
b. Scan out of the chip the first word of the data.
c. Repeat step b for additional data words for consecutive addresses.
a. Set IR to Flash Control and Status Scan instruction.
b. Scan in a code of 8100
a. Set IR to Flash Address Scan instruction.
b. Scan an address into the memory block to be erased, specifying the correct block.
a. Set IR to Flash Data Erase Scan instruction.
b. Scan the erase command into the chip with 1
c. Repeat the scan with 0
d. To erase additional pages or sections, repeat the Set Address (3) and Erase (4) operations.
a. Set IR to Flash Data Erase Scan instruction.
b. Scan the erase command into the chip with 1
c. Repeat the scan with 0
d. If there is no error indication, repeat steps b and c two more times.

b. Scan an address into the memory address to be written.
a. Set IR to Flash Data Write Scan instruction.
b. Scan the write data into the chip with the data byte/word and Valid bit set.
c. Repeat the scan instruction as long as the Valid bit is cleared, checking for the returned Valid status flag to indicate

a ‘not busy’ status. The Error bit indicates if an error occurred during the write process of the previous word. On suc-
cessful write completion, the address is incremented to the next address. In case of an error, the failing address is
provided in Flash Address register; further writes are disabled until the error flag is cleared. The exact source of the
error is provided in FL_CT_ST register. The error may be cleared using FL_CT_ST register.
