It seemed not feasible to put a 16-bit microcontroller into a tiny package such as the
TQFP-64 when the Infineon C166 Family was created. In the meantime, however,
several improvements were added to the architecture which, when combined, allow
high-performance operation of a 16-bit microcontroller in a 64-pin package.
The combination of the following features was the basis for the realization of a compact
microcontroller such as the C164CM:
• Single Chip Mode without reset configuration via PORT0 removes the need for
