In the reception path, the PMS-TC layer performs synchronization on the two PMD
frames using a transmission frame delineation algorithm and a state machine that
switches states upon detection of events in expected positions.
This state machine has three states, HUNT, PRESYNC and SYNC, which function as
shown in
1. HUNT - In this state, the receiver compares bits in the SYNC word, one at a time.
