7.6.10.1.1 MII Configuration for a PHY-MAC Scenario
In a PHY-MAC scenario, the SMI registers of the remote 10/100Base-TX PHY are not
changed by the remote MAC. Local SMI registers are not affected by the remote 10/
100Base-TX PHY.
