The parallel port enables the external host to read and write to the registers. It is an
asynchronous port that enables the host to perform read or write cycles of up to four
bytes in each cycle. The 64-Kbyte internal memory space can be accessed indirectly.
The user writes the internal address to the address registers, the type of access to the
command register and, for a write operation, the data to the data registers.
The parallel port has the following features:
