2.3 Boot from LLink
When boot from LLink is selected, the boot ROM enables the LLink encoded by
SS XC0 BS2, SS XC0 BS1, and SS XC0 BS0 (a binary number between 0 and
7). In addition, all dedicated LLinks that are not shared with a port are enabled.
Most packages bond out only some of the pins SS XC0 BS, and pins that are
not bonded out should be interpreted as zero. A HELLO message is then sent
on each enabled LLink following the protocol defined in Section 3.2.
To boot a core the following procedure must be followed:
Boot from LLink is designed to work on systems where power-up sequences are
controlled (i.e. no hot plugging). In systems where the HELLO message could
be missed by the core that is trying to send out boot code, it should not send
0xzzzz0002 but a /dev/null channel identifier. Then the boot-code should resend
a HELLO message to open the downstream channel.
