6.2.5 UART (Universal Asynchronous Rx/Tx)
UART in the MiDAS1.0 family is a full duplex port. It includes additional features such as the Automatic
Address Recognition. The UART port provides both synchronous and asynchronous communication
modes. In the synchronous mode, the MiDAS1.0 family generates the communication clock and operates
in a half duplex mode. In the asynchronous mode, the UART port operates as a full duplex port. This
means that it can transmit and receive data simultaneously. The transmit buffer and the receive buffer are
both addressed as SBUF SFR. However, writing to SBUF loads the transmit buffer, and reading SBUF
accesses a physically separate receive buffer. The UART port can operate in four different modes as
described below.
