General-Purpose Timers
Programmable timers can be used to count or time external events that drive the Timer input pins.
The Stellaris
and Timer 2). Each GPTM block provides two 16-bit timers/counters (referred to as TimerA and
TimerB) that can be configured to operate independently as timers or event counters, or configured
to operate as one 32-bit timer or one 32-bit Real-Time Clock (RTC).
Note:
The General-Purpose Timer Module is one timing resource available on the Stellaris
Other timer resources include the System Timer (SysTick) (see “System Timer (SysTick)” on page 36)
and the PWM timer in the PWM module (see “PWM Timer” on page 401).
The following modes are supported:

16-bit PWM mode
Programmable one-shot timer
Programmable periodic timer
Real-Time Clock using 32.768-KHz input clock
Software-controlled event stalling (excluding RTC mode)
General-purpose timer function with an 8-bit prescaler (for one-shot and periodic modes only)
Programmable one-shot timer

Input edge time capture
Simple PWM mode with software-programmable output inversion of the PWM signal
Timer2 is an internal timer and can only be used to generate internal interrupts.
In Figure 9-1 on page 176, the specific CCP pins available depend on the Stellaris
See Table 9-1 on page 176 for the available CCPs.
