Note
Interface messages control the GP-IB devices’ interface functions and device
functions. The following table lists the messages that can control the GP-IB
Interface Unit.
1. Interface messages can be sent only when the GP-IB Interface Unit is in
2. When the GP-IB Interface Unit is in Slave mode, it supports only the Inter-
To operate the GP-IB devices, set the ATN line to “L” and send the commands
to all devices connected to the bus. The bus will be in command mode when
the ATN line is set to “L”, so the GP-IB devices will interpret data sent through
the bus as a command and then operate according to that command.

Send a GET message and trigger devices.
It is possible to trigger operation in one GP-IB device or sev-
eral devices simultaneously.
Switch one GP-IB device to remote mode or switch several
devices simultaneously.
Initialize a selected GP-IB device or all devices in the system.
Send a DCL message when a device address is not being
specified.
Send an SDC message when specifying a device address.

Set control line REN to “H” when a device address is not being
specified.
Send a GTL message when specifying a device address.
Prohibit the local functions of the GP-IB devices.
It is possible to prohibit operations from each device’s front
panel. Send an LLO message to lockout local operations.
It is possible to read the status (status byte) of GP-IB devices.
Send an SPE message and specify the addresses of the
desired devices to request the devices’ status data.
Send an SPD message to disable serial polling if an SRQ out-
put is detected or the status data has been read from all of the
specified devices.
Initialize the GP-IB devices.
Set control line IFC to “L” for 100 s.
