GMII/MII MAC Interface
Cat5 Media Interface
The twisted pair interface on the VSC8641 is compliant with the IEEE802.3-2000
specifications for Cat5 media. The VSC8641, unlike other Gigabit PHYs, has all passive
components (required to connect the PHY’s Cat5 interface to an external 1:1
transformer) fully integrated into the device. The connection of the twisted pair
interface is shown in the following illustration.
