Flux is your friend! Make sure the cell
strips are well coated. Each time you use the
flux pen, put the cap back on immediately so
that it will not dry out.
DO NOT USE FLUX REMOVER! The rapid
evaporation and cooling may cause the cell to
flex and break. Flux on the back side of a cell
won’t lower power output.

Begin by priming the flux pen. Remove
the cap and press the tip onto a corner of
the “workbench” to start the flow of flux.
Do not try to prime the flux pen by
pushing it on the cell itself. Once the
flux starts to flow, gently brush it along
the cell’s conductive strips as shown in
Figure 16.
Place a 10” piece of tabbing wire on the
cell as shown in Figure 17. Although the
tabbing wire is pre-tinned with solder,
improved heat transfer is achieved by
adding a ¼” or so of solder to your
soldering iron tip.
Making sure that the wire is lined up with
the cell’s conductive strip, gently touch
the iron to the top of the wire which is
about 1/8” from the edge of the cell.
This anchors the wire in place.
Next, apply a coat of flux to the top of
the tabbing wire itself, as shown in Figure
18. Make sure that the flux is flowing
well. Re-prime the flux pen by depressing
the tip as necessary.
