It is very important to bear in mind that LCD should be placed on or removed from the
BIGAVR2 development board only after the power supply is switched off. Otherwise,
it could be permanently damaged.

A standard character LCD is probably
the most widely used data visualization
component. It normally can display mes-
sages in two lines, each containing up to
16 alphanumeric characters. Characters
are made up of 5x8 pixels. The character
LCD communicates with the microcon-
troller via 4-bit data bus. Connecting to
the microcontroller is shown in figure 25.
