Note
The following table shows the status of the GP-IB Interface Unit’s indicators
for various errors that can occur as well as the steps most likely to correct the
errors.
1. The status byte is in CIO word n+7. (The allocated CIO area words begin
2. After one of these errors, the ERC indicator and the corresponding error
The GP-IB Interface Unit indicates its communications status in the status
byte in the allocated CIO area words of the PLC. The cause of an error can be
determined by checking the contents of the status byte. The following table
Power is not being supplied to the
PLC properly.
The GP-IB Interface Unit’s fastener
has become loose.
The GP-IB Interface Unit is mounted
in the wrong Rack location.
The GP-IB Interface Unit is faulty.
The PLC’s I/O tables has not been
created or is incorrect.
Another Special I/O Unit in the PLC
has the same unit number setting.
Error occurred when reading DM
settings.
Incorrect primary address setting
An error occurred in the PLC.
Timeout error: A timeout error
occurred during transmission or
reception.
(See note 2.)
Command error: The received data
was not an enhanced BASIC com-
mand. (See note 2.)
Command error: The received data
contained data that was not ASCII.
(See note 2.)
GP-IB error: An error occurred dur-
ing handshaking with another
device. (See note 2.)
Parameter error: A parameter error
occurred. (See note 2.)

unit number).)
Check the power supply voltage and pro-
vide the proper power supply.
Mount the Unit securely.
Mount the Unit in an allowed Rack location.
Refer to 3-2 Mounting the Unit in the PLC
for details.
Replace the Unit if the LEDs do not light
when it is mounted in another PLC.
Set the PLC’s I/O tables correctly.
Change the settings so that each Special I/
O Unit (including Units in Expansion
Racks) has a unique unit number.
If an error occurred in the PLC, refer to the
PLC’s Operating Manual for details on cor-
recting the error. If the problem recurs,
replace the Unit or PLC.
Refer to 4-1-2 DM Area Allocation Details,
set the primary address properly, and
restart the PLC.
Refer to the PLC’s Operating Manual for
details on correcting the error. If the prob-
lem recurs, replace the PLC.
Refer to Section 7-2 Using the Status Byte
for Error Processing.
