shows the ideal case with the magnet in air. No magnetic materials are anywhere nearby.

If the magnet is mounted in non-magnetic material, such as plastic or diamagnetic material, such as copper, the mag-
netic field distribution is not disturbed. Even paramagnetic material, such as aluminium may be used. The magnet may
be mounted directly in the shaft
(see Figure
24).
Note: Stainless steel may also be used, but some grades are magnetic. Therefore, steel with magnetic grades
should be avoided.
