4 Circuit Description
During normal operation, the controller within U1 detects the presence of AC input by
detecting that the voltage between D1 and D2 is reversing polarity at fixed time intervals.
Failure to detect polarity reversal is an indication of removal of AC input. This is used as
a signal to turn on the MOSFETs within U1 and discharge the X capacitor. The values of
resistors are chosen to guarantee that the time constant of the X capacitor and the
discharge resistors is less than 1 second.
