Receptacle Tension Tester
P rovides a simple way to check the spring contact
tension of a standard straight blade re c e p t a c l e .
Designed to test outlets with the following ratings:
15A, 125V, 2 pole, 2 wire; 15A, 125V, 2 pole, 3 wire ;
20A, 125V, 2 pole, 3 wire. Completely insulated in
an impact-resistant plastic housing and is safe to
use on energized receptacles. Each blade has an
independent spring to relieve stress and assure
consistent readings over a long life. When tension
falls below 10 ounces, that tells you to monitor the
receptacle closely for further deterioration. Te n s i o n
of 4 ounces is the lowest point which a re c e p t a c l e
should be allowed to remain in service. NFPA
