Equipment Labeling. Equipment shall be field marked with a label
containing the available incident energy or required level of PPE.

where necessary to warn employees about electrical hazards that might
endanger them.

SB5.2 – Cautionary Markings
SB5.2.1 An industrial control panel with a short circuit current rating based
on the high fault short circuit current ratings of one or more components as
specified in SB4.2.3 shall be marked with the word “WARNING” and the
following statement:
Risk of Fire or Electric Shock – The opening of the branch-circuit protective
device may be an indication that a fault current has been interrupted. All
current-carrying parts and other components protected by this device
should be examined and replaced if damaged. If burnout of a current
element of an overload relay occurs, the complete overload relay must
be replaced.

WARNING
110.16 Flash Protection. Electrical
equipment, such as switchboards, panel
boards, industrial motor control panels,
meter socket enclosures, and motor control
centers, that are in other than dwelling
occupancies, and are likely to require
examination, adjustment, servicing, or
maintenance while energized shall be
filed marked to warn qualified persons
of potential electric arc flash hazards.
The markings shall be located so as to be
clearly visible to qualified persons before
examination, adjustment, servicing, or
maintenance of the equipment.
