Summary
This application note described the closed loop control of a sensorless BLDC motor using the advanced on-
chip integrated features of the Z8 Encore! MC™ family of Microcontrollers. The Z8 Encore! MC™ product
line is ideally suited for such applications, providing for a “seamless” startup of the motor from the idle mode
to full operational speed, on-the-fly reversal of the direction of rotation, extremely fast fault detection cycle,
and lower cost of the total solution. Theses features, along with the powerful eZ8 CPU core and some of the
best development tools available in the industry, result in less complex board designs and reduced design cycle
time.
