Port 2
Two types of connector are found on CV500-LK201 Host Link Units. Both of
these connector types can be connected with an RS-232C connector cable. Se-
lect the connector cable which matches the connector type.
If a cable longer than 2 m is required, a longer cable can be fabricated; however
the overall length should not exceed 15 m. Refer to Appendix C RS-232C Con-
nections for more details.
In addition to RS-232C the following two other connection methods are available
to connect the PT to PC. Refer to the appropriate appendices for more informa-
tion on these connection methods.
RS-422
Use RS-422 connections if the PT is more than 15 m from the PC. Communica-
tion is possible up to 500 m through a multicore shielded cable. However, con-
nection is limited 1-to-1 connection between units. Refer to Appendix D RS-422
Connections for more details.
Optical-fiber
Optical-fiber cable connections are used in situations where unstable commu-
nication occurs because of noise problems. Communication is possible up to
500 m. However, connection is limited 1-to-1 connection between units. Refer to
Appendix E Optical Fiber Cable Connections for more details.
When the PT and PC are connected together, set the conditions at the PC Host
Link Unit and the CPU as shown in the table below.
The method of setting the conditions with the switches on each unit is described
Connect the XZ7-10048 Cable with
a 25-pin RS-232C connector to
Communications port 1
Connect the XZ7-10049 Cable with 9-pin
RS-232C/RS-422 connector to Communications port 2.
Set the communications path selector to the RS-232C
side (upper side) before using this port.
I/O port selector switch
Always set to RS-232C.
