PowerInfo is a simple, easy to use hardware interface
that supports configuration, verification and test of
Microchip PS40X or PS33X ICs with patented
Accuron™ technology. It operates under the control of
Microchip’s PowerTool™ Development/Test software
interfaced to a Windows PC.
The PowerInfo™ interface board facilitates serial
communication between the PC and the SMBus inter-
face on smart batteries, providing a direct connection to
both. Under the control of PowerTool software, the
PowerInfo board performs loading and verification of
battery configuration parameters and 3D cell models in
Accuron EEPROM and OTP memory.
Together the PowerInfo board and PowerTool software
form a powerful and versatile tool for configuration of
Microchip
SmartBattery data functions can be accessed on the
PC interactively, or logged to a file at user specified
intervals. Use the available terminals to attach a
charger/load and the system can log data for test and
verification. All of the Microchip configuration parame-
ters can be accessed as well, including the look-up
tables. The parameters can be edited individually,
without lengthy reprogramming and calibration.

PowerInfo is designed to support both development
and test environments. Both RS232 and RS485
interfaces are present. Up to to 4 PowerInfo boards can
be connected to a PC COM port using an RS485
adapter. As a result, up to 16 boards can be interfaced
on a single PC with 4 COM ports.
