stances in electrical and electronic equipment, a maximum
concentration value of 0.1% by weight in homogeneous
materials for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybro-
minated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl
ethers (PBDE), and of 0.01% by weight in homogeneous
materials for cadmium, shall be tolerated.

Global environmental management
With our global environmental management in accordance
with ISO 14001 we are protecting the environment to the
same high standard in all parts of the world. The same
requirements are placed on every EPCOS site; external
institutes ensure, at regular intervals, that they are being
observed.
As well as satisfying both statutory requirements and those
imposed by the relevant authorities, our environmental man-
agement system aims to utilize natural resources efficiently.
For that reason, we use our technological expertise to
design and manufacture our passive electronic components
in the most environmentally compatible way possible. We
are continuously optimizing our products and processes in
order to use materials in a way that minimizes the impact on
resources, to use substitutes for hazardous materials
wherever possible, and to reduce waste to a minimum.
An obligatory list of materials and substances has its foun-
dations in our environmental management system, and
this guarantees that a consistent procedure is applied to all
EPCOS products. We are, moreover, active on a large
number of committees, working groups and commissions
associated with the electronics industry, with the aim of
pushing forward the standardization of material data sheets
for passive electronic components. The materials contained
in our products are listed in detail on this material data
sheets, so that customers, in turn, can satisfy the environ-
mental conditions imposed upon them.
RoHS compatibility
All RoHS-compatible components are identified in this
product profile. The following definition applies here:

Unsere Produkte und Prozesse optimieren wir kontinuierlich

einsatzes, substituieren Gefahrenstoffe nach Möglichkeit
und reduzieren Abfälle auf ein Minimum.
In unserem Umweltmanagement-System ist eine ver-
bindliche Material- und Substanzliste verankert, die für
EPCOS-Produkte ein einheitliches Vorgehen garantiert.

RoHS-Kompatibilität
In diesem Lieferprogramm sind alle RoHS-kompatiblen
Bauformen gekennzeichnet. Hierzu gilt folgende Definition:
RoHS-kompatibel bedeutet, dass die Anforderungen
folgender Dokumente erfüllt werden:
Richtlinie 2002/95/EG des Europäischen Parlaments und
des Rates vom 13. Februar 2003 zur Beschränkung der
Verwendung bestimmter gefährlicher Stoffe in Elektro- und
Elektronikgeräten.
Gemäß der Entscheidung 2005/618/EG vom 18. August
2005, die die Richtlinie 2002/95/EG des Europäischen
Parlaments und des Rates zum Zwecke der Festlegung
maximaler Konzentrationswerte für bestimmte gefähr-
liche Stoffe in Elektro- und Elektronikgeräten ergänzt, wird
in homogenen Materialien eine maximale Konzentration
bezogen auf das Gewicht von 0,1% für Blei, Quecksilber,
sechswertiges Chrom, polybromierte Biphenyle (PBB)
und polybromierte Diphenylether (PBDE) sowie 0,01% für
Cadmium toleriert.
