BNC
The most popular RF style for applications with frequencies under 1 GHz. BNC's are suitable
for applications from DC to 4 GHz but can operate satisfactorily up to 11 GHz. Widely used in
data networks and telecom equipment for video and RF applications.
DIN 1.0/2.3
RF style with compact design for use where space is at a premium. DIN 1.0/2.3 connectors
are most suitable for applications from 0 - 4 GHz but reliably operate up to 10 GHz. Push-pull
mechanism allows for fast, reliable mate/unmate. Used in wireless telecom applications.
MCX
Favorable where size, performance, and ease of assembly are important considerations.
Micro-miniature connectors rated for operation up to 6 GHz. Offers a 30% space reduction
over similar SMB types. Typical applications include GPS and wireless communications.
MMCX
Snap-on mating mechanism provides excellent electrical performance and allows 360 degrees
rotation of mated pairs. MMCX micro-miniature connectors are rated for operation up to 6 GHz.
Applications include GPS, wireless, test equipment, and consumer electronics.
SMA
Value connector balancing cost with size and performance. Designed for applications up to
12.4 GHz but performance can be extended to 18 GHz with semi-rigid cabling. Provides low
VSWR and minimum attenuation. Common application is in microwave systems.
SMB
Small size and ease of mate/unmate make SMB's ideal where packaging density is a
consideration. Designed for applications up to 4 GHz. SMB's snap-on coupling provides
quick connect/disconnect. Applications include test equipment, GPS, and telecom gear.
N
Threaded coupling assures mating where shock and vibration are considerations. N's are
medium sized connectors originally designed for military systems and are suitable up to
11 GHz. Typical uses are aerospace, broadcast, and audio/video applications.
TNC
Similar to BNC's except for the threaded mating coupling. TNC's are suitable for extreme
conditions where shock and vibration are concerned. Designed for applications to 11 GHz.
TNC's are used in cellular antenna applications, aerospace, and medical equipment.
F
Cinch F connectors are mechanically reliable and provide efficient, low-loss electrical
performance. Suitable up to 1.5 GHz with extremely low VSWR, BBF's contribute to the
higher levels of operation for network and customer premises products.
