Incorporating electronic components into a
terminal makes the connection point an
active part of the installation. The unused
space within a terminal can be sensibly
used for signal indication, for suppressing
sparks, or for signal conditioning. Weid-
müller’s range principally covers
Terminals with indicator
to display the switching state, signals and
the operating voltage.
This indication simplifies the start-up pro-
cess, monitoring, servicing and repairs of
the installation.
The range of temrinals covers double-deck
terminals for voltage/current monitoring,
fuse terminals with outage display and dis-
connect test terminals for signalling dis-
connections.
Various coloured LEDs, glow lamps (low
consumption) or regular bulbs are used for
signal indication.
Typical applications are:
• Monitoring a ventilator motor
Displaying the current flow slows the ope-
rating status of the ventilator.
Typical example:
• Protecting a power supply
A lit LED shows a tripped fuse, whereby a
small residual current is flowing through
the terminal.
A status display without residual current is
provided by the EGS fuse component.

Terminals with electronic components
Terminal with diode
for suppressing inductiviy or for linking sig-
nals.
Typical example:
• Eliminating sparks on switching a
The electromagnetic energy stored in the
coil fades through the diode on opening
the contact.
Typical example:
• Protecting contacts on switching an
A varistor limits the peak voltage on swit-
ching off the load.
This prevents arcing and related burning of
contacts.
Typical example:
•Test switch for LED display panels
The primary resistors for the LEDs are
integrated into the terminal.
Two diodes decouple control and test sig-
nals.

Compensating terminals
In measurement, control and regulation
technology various cable lengths and tole-
rances in the sensors necessitate mat-
ching of the circuits.
For this, we offer a combination of terminal
and potentiometer an:
Type SAKL 4.
Typical example:
• Temperature measurement
A further variation provides a voltage dis-
tributor in a terminal.
