The PIC16F88X has several Configuration bits. These
bits can be programmed (reads ‘0’), or left unchanged
(reads ‘1’), to select various device configurations.
4.1
The LVP bit in the Configuration Word 1 register
enables low-voltage ICSP programming. The LVP bit
defaults to a ‘1’ following an erase. If Low-Voltage Pro-
gramming mode is not used, the LVP bit can be pro-
grammed to a ‘0’ and RB3/PGM becomes a digital I/O
pin. However, the LVP bit may only be programmed by
entering the High-Voltage ICSP mode, where MCLR/
V
to a ‘0’, only the High-Voltage ICSP mode is available
and only the High-Voltage ICSP mode can be used to
program the device.
