6.2. Si4421 Compatible Mode
In the Si4421 compatible mode, the radio modem will work with RF EZLink nodes based upon the Si4421
Transceiver. In order to configure the node such that it operates in the Si4421 compatible mode, hold down PB1
while powering up the node.
The functionality of the node in Si4421 compatibility mode is similar to the Standalone Mode and PC Mode in the
normal state. Si4421 compatibility mode simply adjust the RF parameters so that communication is possible
RF parameters: In this mode there is only one available data rate, 9.6 kbps.
If the "S?" command is sent to the module while in PC mode, the module will reply with the following information:
6.3. Message Format
The modem demo uses the following message format:
1. The Preamble is designed to synchronize the PLL of the transmitter and receiver together.
2. The Synchron byte is a pattern field designed the receiver recognize the beginning of the data.
3. The Packet length defines how many bytes make up the payload.
4. The Payload is the physical data which needs to be sent through the RF link.
If the PB1 (LINK) button is pressed while PC Mode is in the command state, the node sends a message with the
following payload: "Link ??". If the second board receives the message, it sends back an acknowledgement
message with the following payload: "Link OK".
